How much does a small business website cost?
What you actually pay for a small business website: builders, freelancers, agencies and fixed packages, plus the ongoing costs people forget.
There is no single price for a website, because “a website” can mean a one-page introduction or a store with hundreds of products. For most small businesses, though, the question is simpler: what does it cost to get a professional site that explains what you do and brings in inquiries? This guide walks through the options and the costs that come after launch.
The four ways to get a website
Each option trades money for time and control differently.
- Do it yourself with a website builder. You pay a monthly subscription and spend your own time on design, writing and setup. Cheapest in cash, most expensive in hours.
- Hire a freelancer. Prices vary widely with experience and scope. Good freelancers are excellent; the risk is in unclear scope and support after launch.
- Hire an agency. Usually the highest cost, with strategy, custom design and project management included. Often more than a new small business needs.
- Buy a fixed-scope package. A defined number of pages and features for a known starting price, with the final quote confirmed before you pay. This is how Mocktar Launch works.
What changes the price
- Number of pages. Five pages and fifteen pages are very different projects.
- Who writes the content. Organizing and writing text takes real time.
- Integrations. Booking, ordering, payments and forms that connect to other tools.
- Online stores. Selling products online is its own category of project.
- Custom design versus a clean, proven layout.
Costs after launch
Budget for these whether you build it yourself or hire someone:
- Domain name, renewed every year.
- Hosting, which may be included in a builder subscription.
- Professional email on your domain, usually billed per user.
- Updates when your prices, hours or services change.
Mocktar Launch prices
Our website packages start at $299 for up to 5 pages (Starter), $499 for up to 10 pages (Business) and $749 for up to 15 pages (Growth). Each includes responsive design, and the higher tiers add maps, analytics, booking integrations and campaign landing pages. Prices are starting points in USD: we confirm the final scope, timeline and price before any payment.
Rule of thumb: if you're unsure, start with the smallest site that answers your customers' main questions. It's easier to add pages to a clear site than to fix a large, confusing one.
